practicing restorative balance.
Abdominal Therapy is a system of healing dedicated to restoring balance to the reproductive and digestive systems. This relaxing hands-on treatment works in several ways: it moves displaced organs back into place, brings blood flow to the area to assist the body in healing itself, moves lymph, and increases vital life force energy. I am an advanced Abdominal Therapy practitioner specializing in fertility and pregnancy.
An initial session lasts 90 minutes and includes an in-depth health history and a hands-on Abdominal Therapy treatment. The treatment itself is pleasant, relaxing, and meditative. Before you leave, I’ll teach you how to do self-care massage on your own body. We’ll talk about complimentary therapies that are appropriate for you such as castor oil packs, an abdominal support wrap, or a pelvic botanical steam. Follow-up sessions last 1 hour and focus primarily on hands-on treatment.
Abdominal Therapy During Pregnancy
Regular Abdominal Therapy can make pregnancy and birth smoother and easier. Common pregnancy symptoms such as heartburn, tailbone pain, and symphasis-pubis dysfucntion are addressed during a treatment. I work to stretch abdominal and sacral ligaments which can help create more space in the pelvis and encourage optimal fetal positioning, which in turn can lead to shorter and easier labors.
Botanical Pelvic Steams
Steaming your reproductive tract has many beneficial uses, and is a profoundly relaxing and centering experience. You can add a steam to an Abdominal Therapy treatment, do one just before an insemination, or book it as a treatment by itself. A steam uses heat and the beneficial qualities of herbs to bring warmth and healing to your cervix, uterus, and ovaries. It helps clear out tissue that did not leave the body during a menstrual cycle, reducing menstrual cramping and increasing fertility. It also can help open up the cervix, making for an easier and more successful IUI.
