Fertility Consultation and Insemination

Taproot Midwifery is proud and honored to support families in the process of conceiving their child(ren). Whether you’re just starting to learn about the physical, emotional, and legal aspects of an insemination, seeking support to help time intercourse for conception better, or are looking for a midwife to assist you with your own at-home insemination, I’m here to help.

Fertility Consultation

At this intake appointment, we will go over an in-depth health history, do a head-to-toe physical, and run any lab tests that you need or want done. We’ll talk about how to chart your body’s fertility signs and signals if this is new to you, or review your charting if you’ve been doing this for awhile. A good chunk of our time will be spent discussing how you can live a more fertile lifestyle through diet, exercise, stress-relieving techniques, and other means. We’ll talk about alternative and complimentary therapies that can increase your fertility such as acupuncture and Arvigo Therapy. If you are planning to conceive this child through an insemination, we’ll spend time talking about your insemination options, important legal aspects to consider, and goal-setting. And of course there will be plenty of time to answer any questions you have. The initial consultation entitles you to 3 months of ongoing care through email and phone as needed. Ongoing care can include things like a diet diary review, helping you decipher your fertility chart and your precise ovulation day, or consultations about referrals for alternative therapies or fertility medications.
The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® (ATMAT) can improve the functioning of your reproductive and digestive systems and increase your chances of conceiving a healthy pregnancy. As a special offer to my fertility consult clients, you can add an ATMAT session to a fertility consult for half off the cost of the usual price of an initial ATMAT appointment.

Insemination

I offer IUI (intrauterine insemination) and ICI (intracervical insemination) in a home or office setting. Leading up to the insemination, you receive on-call phone and email support as needed. Unlike a traditional doctor’s office where you might be out of luck if you ovulate on a Sunday, I have the flexibility to schedule your insemination whenever your body says it’s time, including weekends, evenings, and early mornings. When you work with Taproot Midwifery, your insemination can be as customizable and unique as you are.
Most of my insemination clients are healthy folks without serious fertility issues looking for a low-intervention insemination. For many of them, the only reason they are choosing to do an insemination at all is because they lack easy access to sperm. I can help you determine whether you’re a good candidate for a low-intervention insemination. As a licensed midwife, I cannot prescribe fertility medications such as clomid or the trigger shot, nor can I perform an ultrasound to check for follicle development. I am happy to refer you to skilled local providers who can help you gain access to these services. In the past, I have worked with clients who will see a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) for access to medications and/or ultrasounds while choosing to inseminate at home with me. This is a good option for clients who want or need a higher level of intervention but still want to inseminate in a non-clinical setting.
Please note:
A fertility consult is required prior to your first an insemination. This ideally takes place at least 3 months before you plan to start inseminating. This gives us sufficient time to track your cycle and helps us know exactly when you are ovulating. It also gives time for dietary and other lifestyle changes to work. The more information we have, the higher your chance of success. I will consider agreeing to work with clients for an insemination with less than 3 months lead time only if they are already very experienced with charting their cycle.
